The Children (2007) continues with themes of current social change. Wolf Rilla’s sci-fi horror Village of the Damned (1960) is referenced as the powerful super-intelligent children appearing in the film are re-contextualised within a new collective vision of the future, the cultural ‘horror’ that is globalised consumption. Each portrait represents a globalised industry; fruit production, energy consumption and pharmaceuticals.
